In This Episode…
Nate Parker is an actor and filmmaker who was accused and acquitted of rape charges in 1999. The allegations resurfaced in August, months before Parker’s film, The Birth of a Nation, is set to hit theaters. Parker’s initial interviews with Variety and Deadline sparked many conversations, to say the least.
As a survivor, black woman, social worker, and attorney, this story brings up the complexity and intersectionality of our stories and experiences, and how those experiences impact the way we see the world. Check out this episode, and the following links:

This was my first time listening to HDSDI. Plus, it was my first time listening to a podcast with only one host. Not having dialogue was a different experience. An enjoyable one. I found myself asking internal questions, rather than deciding which person I agree or disagree with. A few times, I let out an audible, “Nah, Tiff”, “True, true, true” and “What?” Good listening.
